Even though polar bears aren't really affable; a clip, filmed on a Russian island, which surfaced online captured their friendly side. And, it will warm your heart.
Surprise visitors don't necessarily have to be nosy acquaintances. Sometimes, life surprises you with encounters that'd leave you smiling for a long time. Even though polar bears might seem like one of the most harmless and squishy animals out there; their actual nature, on the other hand, is rather terrifying and deadly. And thanks to a ton of movies and a number of nature shows, the majority of us are aware of their vicious hunting skills and lethal attacks. As reported by The Daily Mail.
Polar bears might seem harmless at the first sight, but humans don't usually get to see their warmer and affectionate side. Generally, this is owing to the fact that the bears feel threatened in the presence of strangers and un-welcomed guests, like wandering trekkers or even other ferocious predators. Nonetheless, that doesn't mean that the snow-white creatures don't possess emotional traits and feelings. Recently, a captured video was able to showcase the rather contrasting side of polar bears.
The exceptionally incredible moment was captured by an arctic worker who was stationed at the Russian island of Stobolvoy. To everyone's surprise, the video doesn't show a bear attacking or mauling a human being, which is generally the case in most of the videos involving a bear or a polar bear. The video captured a much peaceful side of the otherwise ferocious creature, and it's something that'll surely melt your heart and blow your mind, all at the same time.
The shocking video showcases the Russian arctic worker being confronted by a polar bear, which seems rather peaceful considering it's normal behavioral traits. The video continues to show the bear approaching the man and sniffing his hands, probably to get a scent of the man and analyze if the surrounding is safe for it. The worker seemed to be pretty calm while the polar bear took a sniff of his palm, but that's pretty typical, considering he's a Russian, who are generally known for their rough personalities.
Further, as the video proceeds, the man starts addressing the white predator as "Mishka", and makes an extremely bold move by letting the bear lick his hand. But that's all that the curious polar bear did to the man, as it rapidly turned it's head away when the worker approached forward to pet the creature. But that shouldn't come as a surprise, as this situation is highly unlikely to ever happen to anyone in the first place. The man should be thankful that the bear was in a good mood on that day.
The worker can be heard addressing the bear regarding as to why the wild creature was intervening in their territory by coming this close to them. He says, "Mishka, why do you come so close to us? Stop bullying in our territory". As the man was located on an elevated wooden footpath, the polar bear can be seen standing on its hind legs for the most part in the video, while strolling from one side to other, analyzing the surroundings.
The bear can be further seen taking support on the elevated wooden footpath with its paws and licking the worker's hand twice more. It then hops down from the walkway and starts strolling once again. At one point, the filmer once again speaks to the curious bear, he says, 'His paws are so cute'. The white beast then proceeds to further analyze the surroundings while taking a complete round of the building that the worker was situated in.
But sadly, the cute close encounter came to an abrupt end, towards the end of the video, as some angry dogs can be seen noticing the strange creature and barking at it with full intensity trying to scare it away. The polar bear can be seen fleeing the scene, not long before disappearing from the worker's line of sight. The video can truly be called a one-of-a-kind occurrence as something like this will surely not be seen anytime soon.
