23-year-old Sam Phillips woke up one morning and saw what he thought was a bruise on his leg, but quickly realised what the dark patch was.
The quest for the perfect tan has resulted in some really epic fails. A lot of us can totally relate to a tanning disaster that may have faded off your skin, but not from your memory. Many men have been victims of a tanning disaster or two, but not many can actually related to anything connected to tanning. But one man almost had a heart attack after he spooned his girlfriend and came away with some rather patchy evidence.
23-year-old Sam Phillips woke up one morning and saw what he thought was a bruise on his leg. The Southampton-based man found the bruise rather strange because he only remembered that he cuddled up to his girlfriend the previous night. Perturbed, Sam further investigated the bruise and quickly came to realize that it didn't hurt him. The mark, Sam soon realized, was a patch of tanning solution!
Woke up thinking I had a big bruise on my leg, turns out you can’t spoon your mrs after she’s faked tanned 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/BEx2MpGz2K— Sam Phillips (@sammphillips1) April 5, 2019
It turned out that his girlfriend had applied a coat of fake tanning lotion just before they had hit the hay, and in the moment of tenderness and cuddling, Sam didn't realize that the tanning lotion had rubbed off on him. The builder shared the hilarious instance on his Twitter page and posted two pictures side-by-side showing where the tanning lotion had come off on his girlfriend's body and where it got transferred to on his.

"Woke up thinking I had a big bruise on my leg, turns out you can't spoon your mrs after she's faked tanned," reads the caption of the image, which was shared on Twitter over 6,000 times. Many people related to the picture of his back leg which was covered in a fake tan as well as the missing patch of fake tan from his girlfriend's leg. Sam wasn't the only one who got rubbed with the wrong color.

Another Twitter user also related to the incident and shared an image of his face covered in purple patches. He explained that the purple patches came from the hair dye his girlfriend used earlier that day. Posting a picture of his cheek and shoulder with patches of purple hair dye on it, he captioned it saying 'Also, not after she's had her hair done.' While many found the tan story relatable, others found it particularly hilarious.

One woman commented: "This has happened to me so many times" and another tagged her friend saying: "What I did to you in Benidorm." Nearly 80,000 people liked the post as well, and many left the laughing emoji. The shade of it all!
