Police in Michigan made a rather shocking arrest recently. A woman named Angela Shock lived up to her last name, the 49-year-old woman took the term 'till death do us part' a little too seriously and decided not to report the death of her 61-year-old boyfriend. In fact, she went to the extent of continuing to stay with his dead body for a month before police were sent to the couple's home for a wellness check.
The family of the deceased man was concerned about his well-being and approached the police to pinpoint his whereabouts. The police decided to visit Angela Shock's house to check in on him. When the officers arrived at the house on Harrison Street, they immediately knew that something was not right when they picked up the scent of a decomposing body. The police officers entered the home and saw the decomposing body of the 61-year-old sitting on a chair by the door.
The woman was immediately taken into custody for hiding the death of her boyfriend. She told investigators that her boyfriend had passed away almost a month ago. After his death, Angela Shock continued to use his bank cards. Monroe Police Department's captain Chad Tolstedt spoke to News Now about Shock's potential intention behind the failure to report her boyfriend's death.
"She wanted to continue to stay in the apartment. He also received some benefits through the banks. [She stayed] there, so she had a place to stay," he said. "It’s extremely unusual, it to have a case like this." The girlfriend confirmed that her partner had perished nearly a month ago. Neighbors were shocked at the incident and described Shock and her late partner as 'pleasant'.
"Just seeing them outside all the time, if I was saying hello or if they said hello, I think one time they actually helped me jump my car, so they were pretty nice," said neighbor Aarius Rader. "Some things probably could’ve been avoided but you know in the eyes of love or in an emotional state you probably don’t know what to do in a state of shock." Investigators believe that Shock may have suffered from certain mental issues.
No foul play was involved in the death of the unnamed man. Investigators said that his death was medically delated and had died due to those issues. However, Angela Shock has been charged with concealing the death of her boyfriend. Records show that this is not the first time Shock was on the wrong side of the law. She was previously charged with breaking and entering, stalking, and destruction of property. Shock also has an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of domestic violence.
